But the location isn’t what makes the Four Seasons special.
The fourth-floor terrace has Seattle’s only infinity-edge hotel pool, overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The outdoor infinity pool is heated year-round, and there is also a hot tub overlooking Elliott Bay.
That means you can spend the morning exploring Pike Place Market and return in the afternoon to float above the city with the mountains and water stretched out in front of you.
Yes, please.
The luxury hotel rooms have a sophisticated Pacific Northwest feel, with many offering beautiful water or city views. There is also a full-service spa, 24-hour fitness center, and excellent in-room dining.
For dinner, Goldfinch Tavern serves Pacific Northwest-inspired local cuisine in an upscale but comfortable setting.

Four Seasons combines something that isn’t always easy to find in a downtown hotel: a fantastic location and a genuine resort-like experience.
You’re in the heart of Seattle, but once you’re on that pool terrace looking across Elliott Bay, downtown feels surprisingly far away.

For travelers who prefer modern luxury over traditional elegance, Lotte Hotel Seattle deserves a serious look.
Located in the Seattle Central Business District, Lotte combines a sleek glass tower with the historic Sanctuary building next door. Inside, the design is bold and contemporary, with sophisticated guest rooms, marble bathrooms, oversized windows, and beautiful city views.
The hotel has 189 guest rooms, including 32 suites, and many feel more residential than traditional hotel rooms.
One of Lotte Hotel Seattle’s biggest attractions is Le SPA de l’hôtel LOTTE, where guests can book massages and other treatments or enjoy the sauna and steam room.
And then there is Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge.
Located on the 16th floor, Charlotte Restaurant offers sweeping views of the city along with contemporary Pacific Northwest cuisine. It’s the kind of hotel restaurant where dinner can actually become part of your Seattle itinerary rather than simply somewhere convenient to eat.

3. Fairmont Olympic Hotel: Best Historic Luxury Hotel
Some hotels give you a beautiful room.
Others make arriving at the hotel feel like an event.
Fairmont Olympic Hotel belongs firmly in the second category.
Opened in 1924, this landmark property brings old-school elegance to the heart of downtown Seattle. Its grand architecture and rich history create a completely different experience from Seattle’s newer glass-and-steel luxury hotels.
The location is excellent, too. You’re within walking distance of Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, shopping, restaurants, and many of downtown Seattle’s most popular attractions.
One of the biggest reasons to choose the Fairmont, however, is what you’ll find inside.
The hotel has a large fitness center, dry saunas, a heated indoor swimming pool, and a hot tub. The 42-foot indoor pool sits beneath a skylight inside a bright solarium, making this an especially appealing choice during Seattle’s cooler or rainier months.
There is also Penelope & The Beauty Bar for spa and beauty treatments.

Grand Hyatt Seattle isn’t the intimate luxury escape of the Four Seasons or the design statement of Lotte.
But for the right traveler, that’s exactly why it works.
Located near the Seattle Convention Center in the center of Seattle, this polished downtown hotel provides easy access to shopping, restaurants, Pike Place Market, public transportation, and many major attractions.
The spacious rooms and suites are especially appealing to travelers who don’t want to feel squeezed into a downtown hotel room. Higher-floor rooms can offer excellent city and Elliott Bay views.
Grand Hyatt also has a substantial 24-hour fitness center with Peloton equipment, along with a steam room, sauna, and jetted tub.
Its downtown location makes it particularly practical for business travelers attending meetings or conferences at the Seattle Convention Center while still wanting an upscale hotel experience.

Convenience.

Want something newer and a little less expected?
Meet Populus Seattle.
Located in Pioneer Square, Populus occupies the restored 1907 Westland Building. Original Douglas fir beams, exposed brick, and historic architectural details have been paired with contemporary Pacific Northwest design.
The result is one of Seattle’s more interesting boutique hotel experiences.
Populus has just 120 rooms, with details including original artwork, elevated linens, locally influenced design, and views of the Seattle skyline, Smith Tower, or the historic neighborhood.
The location also opens up a completely different side of Seattle.
Pioneer Square is Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, filled with historic architecture, galleries, restaurants, and easy access to the waterfront. You’ll also be well positioned for events at Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park, and WAMU Theater.
King Street Station and the International District are nearby as well.
Why I Love It
Populus gives travelers another way to experience luxury.
It isn’t trying to compete with the Four Seasons on resort amenities or the Fairmont on grand historic elegance. Instead, it’s about design, history, art, sustainability, and feeling connected to the neighborhood.

Design lovers, repeat Seattle visitors, couples, sports fans attending games at Lumen Field or T-Mobile Park, and travelers looking for one of the city’s best boutique hotels.

7. The Sound Hotel Seattle Belltown: Best for Seattle Center and Space Needle Access
Not every upscale stay needs to carry a traditional five-star hotel label.
The Sound Hotel Seattle Belltown, part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, is a strong choice for travelers who want contemporary accommodations in a central location.
The hotel sits in Belltown between Pike Place Market and Seattle Center, which makes sightseeing especially convenient.
From here, you can explore the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Museum of Pop Culture, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Olympic Sculpture Park while still having relatively easy access to the waterfront and Pike Place Market.
Some rooms offer Space Needle views, adding a little extra Seattle magic after dark.
The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness center, locally focused dining, room service, and modern guest rooms.
Why I Love It
The location gives you options.
You aren’t committed entirely to the Pike Place Market side of downtown or Seattle Center. You’re positioned between the two, which can make a multi-day sightseeing trip much easier.

If Pike Place Market is high on your Seattle wish list, staying nearby can make a huge difference.
You can walk over early in the morning before the biggest crowds arrive, grab coffee, wander through the market, and return later for dinner or sunset views over Elliott Bay.
For a true luxury experience near Pike Place Market, Four Seasons Hotel Seattle is my first choice.
The Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel Seattle is another good option if you prefer boutique accommodations, while Fairmont Olympic Hotel offers more historic elegance a little farther into downtown.
Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle is another centrally located boutique option worth comparing, particularly if you’re looking for easy access to Pike Place Market and the waterfront without staying directly beside the busiest tourist areas.
Best Luxury Hotels Near Seattle Center
If the Space Needle is calling your name, look toward Belltown, Queen Anne, and Seattle Center.
This area gives you convenient access to:
- Space Needle
- Chihuly Garden and Glass
- Museum of Pop Culture
- Seattle Repertory Theatre
- Olympic Sculpture Park
- Climate Pledge Arena
The Sound Hotel Seattle Belltown provides a nice balance because you’re between Seattle Center and downtown rather than being entirely removed from Pike Place Market.
For families or first-time visitors planning to spend considerable time around the Space Needle, that location can be particularly useful.
Best Luxury Hotels in Seattle Before an Alaska Cruise
Seattle is one of the busiest Alaska cruise gateways in the United States, and spending at least one night in the city before embarkation is something I strongly recommend.
Cruise ships generally depart from either the Bell Street Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 or Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91.
If you’re sailing from the Bell Street Cruise Terminal, staying downtown near Pike Place Market and the Seattle central waterfront puts you in a particularly convenient position.
Four Seasons Hotel Seattle and The Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel Seattle are both excellent options for turning that pre-cruise night into part of the vacation.
Pier 91 is farther north near Queen Anne, so you’ll likely need a taxi or rideshare regardless of which downtown luxury hotel you choose.
And this is one place where I wouldn’t choose a hotel solely because it is marginally closer to the cruise terminal.
You’re in Seattle.
Enjoy Seattle.
Have dinner overlooking the water. Visit Pike Place Market. Order room service. Sleep somewhere wonderful.
The ship can have you tomorrow.
What to Look for When Booking a Luxury Hotel in Seattle
Location
Seattle’s downtown area is compact enough that many popular places are within walking distance, but hills can make short distances feel considerably longer.
Look at what you actually want to do before choosing your hotel.
For Pike Place Market and the waterfront, stay downtown.
For Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park, consider Pioneer Square.
For the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and Museum of Pop Culture, look toward Belltown or Seattle Center.
For restaurants and a more residential urban atmosphere, South Lake Union can also be worth considering, although it isn’t my first recommendation for a first-time luxury sightseeing trip.
Views
Seattle is surrounded by scenery, so paying for a view can actually be worth it here.
Depending on the hotel and room orientation, you may find views of Elliott Bay, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, the Space Needle, the downtown skyline, or even Mount Rainier on a clear day.
If the view matters, don’t simply book a higher room category and assume you’ll get it. Look for the actual view description when selecting your room.
Pool and Spa Amenities
Seattle luxury hotel amenities vary considerably.
Four Seasons has the standout outdoor infinity pool.
Fairmont Olympic has an indoor swimming pool and hot tub.
Lotte is particularly appealing for travelers prioritizing spa treatments.
If a pool, hot tub, fitness center, or full-service spa is important to your stay, verify what’s included before booking.
Price
There is no particularly useful “average price” for Seattle’s best luxury hotels because rates can change dramatically depending on the season, cruise departures, conventions, sporting events, and weekends.
Summer can be especially expensive.
Instead of focusing on the lowest nightly rate, compare the complete value of the hotel stay—including location, room category, resort or destination fees, parking, breakfast, credits, special offers, and any luxury travel benefits available with your reservation.
A more expensive room that includes meaningful benefits can sometimes be the better value.
Are Seattle Luxury Hotels Worth It?
For the right trip, absolutely.
Seattle is one of those cities where your hotel can become part of the destination.
A water-view room lets you wake up overlooking Puget Sound. A downtown hotel puts Pike Place Market outside your door. A historic hotel adds another layer to your experience. And an infinity pool overlooking Elliott Bay?

But if historic architecture, contemporary design, spa time, walkability, or boutique character matters more to you, Seattle has an exceptional hotel waiting for that trip too.
Because sometimes the hotel isn’t just where you stay.
